 व्यञ्जनकार

व्यञ्जनकार थर नेवार समुदायको एक विशिष्ट समूह हो। यस थरका मानिसहरू परम्परागत रूपमा खाद्यान्न तयारी र सेवा प्रदान गर्ने पेशासँग सम्बन्धित छन्। "व्यञ्जनकार" शब्द "व्यञ्जन" र "कार" को संयोजनबाट बनेको हो, जसको अर्थ खानाका परिकार बनाउने व्यक्ति भन्ने बुझिन्छ।

व्यञ्जनकारहरू नेवारी खानाका विज्ञ मानिन्छन् र परम्परागत धार्मिक तथा सांस्कृतिक अवसरहरूमा विभिन्न खानाका परिकारहरू तयार गर्ने जिम्मेवारी लिन्छन्। उनीहरू मन्दिरहरूमा देवी-देवताका लागि भोग चढाउने विभिन्न परिकारहरू तयार गर्ने कार्यमा संलग्न रहन्थे, जसपछि ती परिकारहरू प्रसादको रूपमा वितरण गरिन्थ्यो।

व्यञ्जनकारहरू किरात कालदेखि नै काठमाडौं उपत्यकामा बसोबास गर्दै आएका छन्। भक्तपुरमा खाद्य परिकार तयार र सेवा प्रदान गर्ने जिम्मेवारी मुख्य रूपमा सुवाल थरका व्यक्तिहरूले बहन गर्ने भएकाले सुवाल र व्यञ्जनकार थरलाई समानान्तर थरका रूपमा लिन सकिन्छ।

Byanjankar

The Byanjankar caste is a distinct subgroup within the Newar community, traditionally engaged in food preparation and service. The name "Byanjankar" originates from the combination of the words Byanjan (cuisine) and Kar (maker), signifying a person skilled in preparing food dishes.

Renowned for their expertise in Newari cuisine, Byanjankars play a vital role in preparing food for religious and cultural ceremonies. They have historically been responsible for making offerings (bhog) for deities in temples, which were later distributed as prasad (sacred food).

Byanjankars have been residing in the Kathmandu Valley since the Kirat era. In Bhaktapur, the Suwal clan has traditionally handled similar responsibilities of food preparation and offering rituals. Therefore, Suwal and Byanjankar caste can be considered equivalent caste.
