Thar (Surname) of the Newars

अमात्य   छ थरिया श्रेष्ठ भित्र पर्दछ। यिनीहरू नेपाल भाषामा  महाजु ,   महां , माहां भनेर पनि चिनिन्छ । अ मात्य भन्ने थर मल्लकालको सामाजिक तथा प्रशासनसँग सम्बन्धित थियो । अमात्यले प्रधानमन्त्री वा मुख्य मन्त्री सरहको पदलाई जनाउँछ। राजालाई सल्लाह दिनका साथै महत्त्वपूर्ण सरकारी कार्यहरूको निरीक्षण गर्ने जिम्मेवारी हुन्थ्यो।  Amatya falls under Chha Thariya Shrestha group. These people are also known as Mahaju , Mahan, Maahan in Nepal Bhasha. The surname Amatya was associated with the social and administrative hierarchy of the Malla period. Amatya" denoted the chief minister or prime minister, essentially the highest ranking minister within the administration of the kingdom, responsible for advising the king and overseeing key governmental function.
