Khatri (खत्री)

झट्ट सुन्दा ब्राह्मण क्षेत्रीहरूको खत्री थरसँग मिल्दोजुल्दो लाग्ने भए पनि, नेवार समुदायको खत्री थर यसको आफ्नै विशिष्टता रहेको छ। नेवार समुदायमा खत्री थरको उत्पत्ति हाडा, राजलवट र अन्य कुलीन वर्गका परिवारहरूसँग जोडिएको छ। यी परिवारका सन्तानले ज्यापू समुदायका चेलीहरूसँग विवाह गरेपछि यो नयाँ थरको उत्पति भएको थियो।

यस थरका व्यक्तिहरूलाई परम्परागत रूपमा राजकुलोको स्याहार-सुसार र अनुगमन गर्ने जिम्मेवारी दिइएको थियो।

At first glance, the Khatri surname of the Newar community might seem similar to the Khatri surname of the Brahmin and Chhetri communities, but it holds its own unique history. In the Newar community, the Khatri surname originated from the Hada and Rajalawat and other elite families. This new surname emerged when the descendants of the Hada, Rajalawat and other elite families married women from the Jyapu community.

Traditionally, individuals with this surname were entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining and supervising the Rajkulo (a traditional water management system of water channels for drinking and irrigation).
