Tirhut Brahmin (Jha, Mishra)

"झा र मिश्र/मिश्रा थर भएका तिरहुते (मैथिली) ब्राह्मणहरू राम सिता र कृष्ण मन्दिर र केही वैष्हणव मन्दिरहरूकोजारीको रूपमा सेवा गर्दछन् र नेवार समुदायमा पछि थपिएका हुन्। अधिकांश नेवारहरू, साथै तिरहुते ब्राह्मणहरू आफैँ पनि, झा र मिश्रलाई आंशिक नेवार मान्छन्। तिरहुते ब्राह्मणहरू मल्लकालको मध्य र अन्तिम चरणमा उपत्यकामा आएका थिए। उनीहरूले नेवारी भाषा बोल्छन् र नेवार परम्पराहरू अनुसरण गर्छन् तर सधैँ वैवाहिक र अन्य सम्बन्ध तराई कै तिरहुते ब्राह्मणहरूसँग राखि रहे। नेपाल भाषा साहित्यमा यिनीहरूको योगदान रहेको छ। उपत्यकाको मठ मन्दिरमा गाइने केही भजनहरू साथै नाटकहरू मैथिली भाषामा रहेका छन्।

Jhā and Miśra  

Tirhute Brahmin with surnames Jhā and Miśra (Mithila)  serve as temple priests for Ram Sita, Krishna temples and few Vaishnav Temples and are later additions to the Newar Community. Most Newars, as well as they themselves, consider them as being only partial Newar. The Tirhute Brahmins came to the Valley in the mid and late Malla period. They speak Newari and follow Newar traditions but always retained matrimonial and other relations with the Terai. They have made contribution to Nepal Bhasa literature. Some hymns sung in the temples of the valley and plays are in the Maithili language.
