"नगरकोटी थर पहरी थरका उपथर रहेको छ। पहरीहरू भारतबाट आएका क्षेत्रीय थिए। मल्लकालमा, मल्ल राजाहरूले आफ्नो पक्षबाट लडाई गर्न झिकाइएका हुन्। यी व्यक्तिहरू प्रायः सहरभन्दा टाढा, ग्रामीण क्षेत्रहरूमा कृषि गर्दै बस्थे र युद्धका समयमा मल्ल राज्यहरूको सुरक्षा गर्थे। नेपालको इतिहासमा, पृथ्वीनारायण शाहको आक्रमणको समयमा मल्ल राज्यको रक्षा गर्दै गर्दा लगभग ३०० नगरकोटी योद्धाहरूले प्राण गुमाएका थिए।"

Pahari/Nagarkoti

The Nagarkoti surname is a sub-caste of the Pahari. During the Malla period, the Malla kings brought them to fight on their behalf from India. They settled in rural areas, away from the then cities, engaging in agriculture, and provided security to the Malla kingdoms during times of war. In Nepal's history, around 300 Nagarkoti warriors were killed while defending the Malla king during the attacks of Prithvi Narayan Shah."
